Communities vow cooperation with security agencies to tackle crime
Northern Traditional Rulers in the South-East and South-South have pledged full support to state governments and security agencies to address rising security challenges.
Alhaji Yaro Danladi, Chairman of the Council and leader of the Hausa Community in Abia, said the two-day emergency meeting in Umuahia resolved that northern communities will collaborate closely with host communities, governors, and security forces, providing timely intelligence to prevent crime.
“Once any incident occurs, information will reach me within minutes, and I will immediately contact security authorities,” Danladi said, stressing that criminal elements will not be shielded.
The Council also plans to appoint representatives in all LGAs to improve communication, welfare, and security reporting. Leaders like Alhaji Abubakar Sambo and Alhaji Garba Lawan reaffirmed the commitment of northern communities to peaceful coexistence, respecting local laws, and following traditional leadership structures.
The move underscores a renewed drive for unity, collaboration, and public safety in regions with long-standing inter-community ties.
