KANO POLICE, NUJ SCORE BIG WITH NEW TENNIS FACILITY

Sporting ties boost police–media collaboration in Kano

The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Bakori, has unveiled a table tennis facility for the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel, strengthening police–media relations in the state.

Speaking at the NUJ Press Centre on Sunday, Bakori hailed journalists as critical partners in policing, noting that recreational activities like sports build trust, enhance communication, and promote mutual understanding. He credited collaboration with the media for Kano’s decline in crime and improved security, especially in border communities.

NUJ leaders called the facility a historic milestone, aimed at promoting the physical and mental well-being of journalists in a demanding profession. Plans to revive the National NUJ Games were also discussed to foster unity and professional bonding.

The event concluded with a friendly table tennis match between Bakori and NUJ Chairman Murtala Adewale, celebrating the spirit of partnership.
