LATE DRAMA IN ABA AS ENYIMBA EDGE BAYELSA UNITED

Samuel Agu’s 82nd-minute strike seals a hard-fought NPFL win at home

Enyimba International FC left it late but got the job done on Sunday, beating Bayelsa United 1–0 in their NPFL Matchday 24 clash at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba.

After a tense, evenly fought contest, Samuel Agu finally broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute, sparking wild celebrations among the home fans and securing all three points for the People’s Elephant.

Enyimba coach Deji Ayeni admitted he expected a tough battle, praising Bayelsa United for their resilience and singling out the visiting goalkeeper for an outstanding performance. He said the keeper’s display was the reason Enyimba had to wait so long for the winner.

On his part, Bayelsa United coach Meremu Okara lamented a brief lapse in concentration that proved costly, saying his team matched Enyimba for long spells but failed to take their chances.

Despite the win, Enyimba remain 11th with 31 points, while Bayelsa United stay 14th on 28 points after 24 games.
