KWARA FORESTS FLUSHED: ARMY SMASHES TERROR CAMPS IN MAJOR OFFENSIVE

Troops raid bandit hideouts, rescue kidnap victims as Operation Igbo Danu delivers results

The Nigerian Army has scored major wins in Kwara State, clearing terrorist hideouts and dismantling supply routes in a coordinated assault tagged Operation Igbo Danu (Forest Flush). The week-long operation, carried out by troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), ran from January 23 to 29, 2026.

Led by Maj.-Gen. Chinedu Nnebife and Brig.-Gen. Nicholas Rume, troops launched aggressive patrols and targeted raids across forest enclaves, neutralising several terrorists, destroying camps, rescuing kidnapped victims and arresting fleeing suspects. A major breakthrough was recorded in Garin Dandi, Ifelodun LGA, long known as a bandit stronghold.

The army acknowledged that some criminals escaped with help from local collaborators and urged residents to keep sharing credible intelligence. Despite tough terrain, troops maintained pressure, cutting off movement and weakening terrorist networks. The military says operations will continue until lasting peace is restored.
