President Bola Tinubu has accepted Prof. Mahmood Yakubu’s exit as INEC chairman after his second term expired. In a show of gratitude, Tinubu awarded Yakubu the national honor of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) for his dedication to Nigeria’s democracy and fair elections since 2015.
Yakubu will hand over to senior commissioner May Agbamuche-Mbu as acting chair until a new appointment is made.
