YAKUBU RESIGNS AS INEC CHAIRMAN, HANDS OVER TO AGBAMUCHE-MBU

Mahmood Yakubu stepped down as INEC chairman to allow fresh leadership take charge ahead of crucial elections. At a brief handover, Yakubu handed over to senior commissioner May Agbamuche-Mbu as acting chair, hoping the new leader can quickly settle into Nigeria’s complex electoral landscape.

Yakubu reflected on 10 years of reforms, including biometric voter registration and digital election management tools, while preparing for upcoming elections and awaited electoral law reforms. Agbamuche-Mbu pledged to uphold his legacy and work professionally with all stakeholders.
