Arsenal secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, November 1, 2026, with German striker Kai Havertz scoring the decisive goal to strengthen the Gunners’ position at the top of the Premier League table.
Havertz broke the deadlock in the 16th minute, tapping in a low cross from Declan Rice after Liverpool failed to clear the ball from their defence. The goal gave Mikel Arteta’s side an early advantage in the closely contested encounter.
Liverpool came close to finding an equaliser on two occasions, but Florian Wirtz saw his curling free-kick strike the crossbar, while Alexis Mac Allister headed a promising opportunity over the bar. Arsenal, however, defended resolutely to preserve their lead and secure their first Premier League victory at Anfield in 14 years.
The victory takes Arsenal to 24 points at the top of the standings, replacing Manchester City, who remain on 21 points following their home defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday. Liverpool, meanwhile, remain fifth, nine points behind the league leaders.
