President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios on setting a Guinness World Record with their film, Black Market.
The filmmakers achieved the record for the largest attendance at a film screening during an event held in Lagos on Saturday, September 26. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the feat as evidence of the creativity, enterprise and ambition driving Nigeria’s growing creative industry.
The President said Nigeria’s creative economy was creating businesses, generating jobs and opening new markets for Nigerian talent, while film, music, fashion and art continued to take the country’s stories and culture to audiences around the world.
Tinubu said the achievement demonstrated what Nigerian creativity could accomplish when combined with enterprise and scale. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating opportunities for young Nigerians to build livelihoods and globally competitive businesses from their talents, while wishing the Black Market team greater success.
