Nigeria’s Stallions began their Africa Men’s Sevens Series campaign on a winning note, defeating Ghana’s Black Eagles 28-5 in their opening match in Kampala, Uganda.
The Stallions dominated from the start, using pace, intensity and sustained pressure to prevent Ghana from building attacking momentum. Nigeria’s defence consistently restricted the Black Eagles and kept them on the back foot throughout the encounter.
Nigeria will next face Morocco, who lost 19-12 to Zimbabwe in their opening fixture. The Stallions will be aiming for another victory before their final group match against Zimbabwe.
In other matches on Saturday, Zambia edged Tunisia 10-7, while hosts Uganda defeated Senegal 38-0. Nigeria’s emphatic victory over Ghana gives the team an early boost as it seeks to build momentum in the competition.
