Nigeria’s Flamingos maintained their perfect record at the 2026 WAFU U-17 Women’s Tournament in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, after defeating Burkina Faso 2-0 on Monday, September 21.
The Nigerian girls dominated possession in a tightly contested first half but struggled to break through Burkina Faso’s resolute defence. They returned after the interval with greater intensity, pressing for the opening goal.
Their persistence paid off in the 82nd minute when Mary Dunstan produced a brilliant finish to put Nigeria ahead. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi then sealed the victory in stoppage time after dribbling past the Burkina Faso goalkeeper before calmly finding the net.
The result means the Flamingos have now won all three of their matches in the tournament, strengthening their campaign for the WAFU U-17 Women’s title. Nigeria will look to maintain its winning momentum in the remaining fixtures.
