The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has called on traditional rulers, community leaders and residents of Kwara South to provide credible information to security agencies to help address security challenges in the area.
Shaibu made the call during a stakeholders’ engagement in Offa, represented by Maj.-Gen. Adewale Adekeye, Chief of Personnel Management, Army Headquarters. The meeting brought together traditional rulers, youths, women, religious organisations, government officials and other stakeholders.
The COAS also urged participants to promote responsible communication and discourage the spread of fake news and messages capable of causing fear, division and conflict. He said security concerns should be reported promptly to the appropriate authorities.
The engagement was part of efforts to strengthen civil-military relations and promote mutual understanding, trust and cooperation between security agencies and the communities they serve.
