President Bola Tinubu and French President Emmanuel Macron have reaffirmed Nigeria and France’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations following a private dinner at the Élysée Palace in Paris.
The engagement, held on the night of Thursday September 17, reflected the continued high-level diplomatic contacts between the two countries, according to Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu arrived in Paris on Sunday for the second phase of his three-week annual leave in Europe, which the Presidency has described as a working vacation. Nigeria and France have continued to cooperate in areas including trade, investment, security, energy, innovation, culture and the creative economy.
The latest meeting builds on previous engagements between Tinubu and Macron, including the Nigerian President’s participation in the June 2023 Summit for a New Global Financial Pact in Paris. The Presidency said Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria at the end of his leave.
