The remains of former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, have been laid to rest in his hometown, Yola, Adamawa State, following his death.
The funeral prayer, conducted according to Islamic rites, was led by the Chief Imam of Modibbo Adama Central Mosque, Yola, Alhaji Ahmadu Bobboi, at about 10:50 a.m. on Sunday, September 13. His remains were later buried at the family house in Fadde-Sanda, along Abuja Road, Yola, at about 11:30 a.m.
Tukur, who died in Abuja on Saturday, was a former Governor of the old Gongola State and also served as Minister of Industries. He was survived by two wives and 18 children, including the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Awwal Tukur.
The funeral was attended by prominent Nigerians, including businessman Aliko Dangote, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Senator Iya Abbas, former Governor Jibrilla Bindow, traditional rulers and other dignitaries from within and outside the state.
