The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested Manaseh Bitrus Jatau in connection with the death of his girlfriend, 35-year-old Rebecca Jeremiah.
According to the police, Jeremiah was found dead along Mai Angwa Street, Romi, on Sept. 5. Detectives visited the scene and evacuated her to St. Gerald Hospital, Kakuri, where a medical doctor confirmed her death. Her body was subsequently deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
The police said preliminary investigation showed that Jatau was the last person to contact the deceased and invite her to meet him. He was later traced and arrested at his workplace in Maraban Jos. Police said the suspect made statements during interrogation concerning the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. The Kaduna Police Command said he will be charged to court after the investigation is completed.
