One person has died and two others have been rescued alive after a two-storey building undergoing manual demolition partially collapsed in Aboru, Lagos.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the incident occurred around midnight at No. 42 Governors Road, Aboru, in the Alimosho area. Its emergency response team arrived after receiving a distress call and found workers trapped beneath the rubble.
Two adult males were rescued and given first aid before being taken to a nearby health facility for further medical attention. Another adult male was recovered dead from beneath the collapsed structure.
LASEMA, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and LASAMBUS are jointly handling the rescue and recovery operation. The agency has urged residents and developers to comply with building regulations and engage certified professionals for demolition and construction activities.
