The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested four suspected illicit drug dealers in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state. This was disclosed by the command on Monday, September 7, in Kano.
The suspects — Abubakar Abdullahi, 35; Rabiu Baffa, 25; Aminu Lawan, 35; and Ibrahim Idris, 33 — were arrested by operatives of the Counter Terrorism Unit following credible intelligence. The NSCDC said the operation was aimed at disrupting the illegal distribution and abuse of controlled substances.
The command said operatives recovered Pregabalin 300mg capsules, Diazepam tablets, three tubes of Oshin Solution and several packs and parcels of suspected marijuana from the suspects. The four suspects and the recovered exhibits are expected to be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Kano State NSCDC Commandant Mohammed Hassan-Agalama cautioned youths and other members of the public against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking. He also urged residents to provide credible information on suspected drug-related activities, assuring them that such information would be treated confidentially.
