The wife of Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, has on Saturday September 5, empowered more than 500 women and vulnerable persons with cash and food items as part of activities marking the 2026 World Charity Day in Lokoja.
The initiative, organised under her Homemaker Empowerment Initiative, included a charity road walk from Obasanjo Square to Government House. Beneficiaries included widows, elderly women, Persons Living With Disabilities, roadside hawkers and other vulnerable residents, with cash support ranging from 5,000 to 100,000 naira.
Ododo also visited orphanages and hospitals, where welfare packages were distributed. She described the annual September 5 observance as a reminder of the impact of kindness and compassion, urging residents and women leaders to support families and communities through acts of giving.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Jumait Abdullahi, who received 100,000 naira, thanked the governor’s wife for supporting widows and elderly women. Ododo also commended First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her humanitarian efforts and urged citizens to embrace charity and look out for vulnerable members of society.
