Erling Haaland reached a major career milestone on Sunday, scoring his 300th club goal as Manchester City defeated Coventry City 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium. The victory maintained City’s perfect start to the Premier League season, with the Norwegian striker’s third goal of the campaign proving decisive.
Haaland struck in the 26th minute after Enzo Fernandez sent a pass to Antoine Semenyo, whose cross found the striker. Haaland rose to head the ball into an unguarded net, completing his 300th club career goal across five different clubs.
The match also marked an impressive debut for Fernandez, who formed a strong midfield partnership with fellow new signing Eliot Anderson. City dominated possession and completed 803 passes, their highest tally since a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United in 2023.
City manager Enzo Maresca praised his players for working together and described Fernandez’s debut as ideal after the Argentine was brought into the starting lineup shortly before kick-off. The victory gave City nine points from three matches as they continue their rebuilding phase following the departures of Pep Guardiola and midfielder Rodri.
