The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says it will strengthen controls over the mobilisation process, from admission through graduation, to prevent record manipulation and ensure that only eligible graduates are mobilised for national service.
NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, on Friday September 4, disclosed this in Abuja at the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Pre-Mobilisation Workshop, which focused on accountability, data integrity and digital innovation. He identified inaccurate personal records, unauthorised alterations, uploading of unqualified persons and delayed submission of approved graduation lists as major challenges.
Nafiu urged Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs) to improve internal verification and quality assurance before submitting graduates’ records to the NYSC. He said the scheme would expand the use of technology while strengthening cybersecurity, data protection and institutional controls to reduce errors, fraud and unnecessary delays.
The NYSC boss declared zero tolerance for negligence, manipulation of records and abuse of process, stressing that reliable data was essential to effective mobilisation and national planning. Director of Corps Mobilisation, Mrs Racheal Idaewor, also urged student affairs officers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate, properly verified and timely submission of prospective corps members’ records.
