The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) has confiscated 419 cartons of expired agricultural chemicals allegedly stockpiled at a warehouse along Club Road in Kano metropolis.
The council, on Saturday September 5, said the raid followed credible intelligence that the expired products were being stored at the location, with an alleged attempt to alter their condition and return them to the market. Officials recovered the chemicals and sealed the premises pending further investigation and legal action.
KCPC Executive Secretary, Dr Ibrahim Garba-Muhammad, said the operation was part of efforts to prevent expired, adulterated and unsafe products from reaching consumers. He warned traders, companies and individuals against practices that could endanger public health.
Garba-Muhammad urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspected unsafe or unsuitable products to the council through its designated channels. He also assured Kano residents that the council would continue taking measures to protect consumers and keep harmful products out of the market.
