Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has intensified its campaign against domestic and gender-based violence (DGBV), taking sensitisation and advocacy efforts to communities across the council area.
The campaign, led by the council’s Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) team, on Thursday September 3, focused on educating residents about the dangers and consequences of domestic and sexual violence on families and society. Officials urged residents to reject all forms of violence in homes and communities.
Residents were encouraged to break the culture of silence and promptly report cases involving domestic or gender-based violence. Campaigners stressed that such violence should not be treated as a private family matter but as a social problem requiring collective action.
The council also urged residents to embrace the message, “If You See Something, Say Something,” and become active voices against abuse, intimidation and violence. Officials reaffirmed the council’s commitment to building a safe, peaceful and violence-free community.
