Police in Ogun State have raided an alleged baby factory in the Mowe area, rescuing two pregnant women and four children and arresting six suspects in connection with suspected human trafficking and illegal adoption activities.
The Ogun State Police Command said the facility on Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, was raided on August 24 following intelligence gathered on the alleged operation. The rescued pregnant women were identified as 23-year-old Ilesanmi Foluke and 20-year-old Ejekwa Melody.
Police said four children — two boys and two girls — were also recovered from the facility. Further investigation led operatives to a hospital in the Mowe area, where another woman who had reportedly given birth on August 20 was found receiving treatment.
However, police said the whereabouts of the newborn could not be established, leading to the arrest of an attending nurse as efforts intensified to locate the baby.
Six suspects, including the nurse, were arrested and the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation. Police said the investigation would determine the extent of the alleged operation and identify anyone else involved.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling human trafficking and child exploitation. He urged residents to report suspicious activities to security agencies.
