Fans, colleagues and well-wishers have celebrated veteran Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele as she marks her 49th birthday.
Akindele, popularly known as Jenifa, shared a birthday message on her verified Instagram page, expressing gratitude to God for His blessings, guidance and protection throughout her career. She also prayed for good health, long life and the grace to continue impacting lives and nurturing young talents.
Her post attracted an outpouring of birthday wishes from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry, who praised her achievements and wished her continued success, happiness and good health.
Born on August 24, 1977, in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Akindele rose to prominence through the television series I Need to Know before gaining widespread recognition for her role as Jenifa in the 2008 film of the same name.
She has since built a successful career as an actress, producer and filmmaker, with notable projects including Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, A Tribe Called Judah and Everybody Loves Jenifa. She has also won several industry honours, including the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Akindele remains one of Nollywood’s most commercially successful figures and continues to combine acting, filmmaking and talent development. Her latest project, The Four: No One Fights Alone, is scheduled for global cinema release on December 11.
