Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to strengthen the bonds of unity, reject hatred and intolerance, and extend support to vulnerable members of society.
Shettima made the call on Tuesday in his Eid-el-Maulud message to the Muslim community and Nigerians, as they commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The Vice President described Nigeria’s diversity as one of its greatest strengths and called for a society where people of different faiths and backgrounds can live together in peace, dignity and mutual respect.
He said the life and teachings of the Prophet remained enduring examples of mercy, humility, justice, patience and service to humanity. Shettima urged Nigerians to reflect these values by caring for one another and promoting peaceful coexistence.
He also encouraged citizens to remember people in need and extend kindness to their neighbours and communities, saying the true spirit of Eid-el-Maulud goes beyond celebration to putting the Prophet’s teachings into practice.
Shettima prayed for lasting peace and prosperity in Nigeria and called on Nigerians to remain committed to unity, compassion and peaceful coexistence.
