TINUBU SUSPENDS THREE PERMANENT SECRETARIES OVER ALLEGED FAKE GOVERNMENT AGENCY

Listen

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries following the discovery of another allegedly unauthorised government agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) said the organisation, identified as the National Brands Development and Mandates in the Nigeria Special Project Office, was uncovered during investigations into another alleged fake government body.

ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Aliyu, said the organisation had been allocated office space within the SGF’s premises despite allegedly lacking legal authority to operate as a Federal Government agency. He identified Prince George Buchi Nwabueze as its alleged promoter and said President Tinubu had ordered his immediate arrest.

The President also ordered the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries identified by the ICPC as M.S. Danjuma, Engr. Nadungu Gagare and Richard Pheelangwah. The commission said investigations were ongoing to establish their roles, how the alleged agency gained access to government premises and whether public funds or personnel were involved.

Aliyu said the ICPC was working with the Office of the SGF to obtain relevant documents and information. He added that the development had raised concerns about weaknesses in government administrative processes and reinforced the need to strengthen internal systems, including through a forensic audit of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).
