The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed several establishments in Agege and Mushin for violating environmental regulations and failing to comply with corrective measures issued by the agency.
LASEPA announced the enforcement on Wednesday, saying the exercise was aimed at protecting public health, enforcing environmental laws and promoting a cleaner and safer Lagos. Several religious institutions in Mushin were sealed over alleged noise pollution, including Akorohunfayo Central Mosque, Holy Temple of Christ, Christ Covenant Gospel Church and Christ Apostolic Church (Oye Iyanu).
The agency also sealed Biolarique Bakery Academy in Mushin for non-compliance with its directives and Tiles & Marbles in Olorunsogo over air pollution. Five scrap yards in Agege and Mushin were equally affected over various infractions, including alleged environmental pollution and failure to provide evidence of required e-waste permits.
LASEPA General Manager, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting public health and preserving the environment through sustained monitoring and enforcement. He urged businesses, religious institutions, scrap dealers and other operators to obtain the necessary permits and comply with environmental standards.
Ajayi stressed that environmental protection was a collective responsibility and warned that LASEPA would continue to enforce regulations against activities capable of threatening public health and the environment.
