FANS CELEBRATE VETERAN COMEDIAN AY MAKUN AT 55

Fans, colleagues and well-wishers have taken to social media to celebrate veteran Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, as he marks his 55th birthday on Wednesday.

The entertainer announced the milestone on his verified Instagram account, expressing gratitude for his journey, resilience and the experiences that have shaped his career. His post described 55 as a milestone of grace, gratitude and continued growth.

Several personalities in the entertainment industry, including Peter Okoye, Obi Cubana, Charles Okocha and other colleagues, shared birthday messages, prayers and goodwill wishes for the comedian.

Born on Aug. 19, 1971, in Ifon, Ondo State, and raised in Warri, Delta State, AY studied Theatre Arts at Delta State University. He rose to prominence through stand-up comedy and later established AY Live and the AY Open Mic Challenge, helping to promote emerging talents.

Beyond comedy, AY has built a career in acting, film production and television. His 2014 movie 30 Days in Atlanta, which he produced and starred in, became one of Nigeria’s highest-grossing films at the time.

As he celebrates 55, fans continue to recognise AY’s contributions to Nigeria’s entertainment industry and his role in creating platforms for comedians and other creative talents.
