Nigeria’s men’s beach volleyball team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Algeria on Tuesday in their opening match of the 2026 CAVB Beach Volleyball Continental Cup in Alexandria, Egypt.
The Algerian pair dominated both sets, winning 21-14, 21-14, as Nigeria struggled to maintain consistency and match their opponents’ control of the game.
The defeat puts Nigeria under pressure ahead of the remaining matches, with the team needing stronger performances to remain in contention for direct qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The continental championship features 46 teams from 28 African countries across the men’s and women’s categories. The winners in both categories will earn direct qualification for the 2028 Olympics.
