NOLLYWOOD FILM ‘CALL OF MY LIFE’ WINS AUDIENCE AWARD AT BLACKSTAR FESTIVAL

Nollywood romantic comedy ‘Call of My Life’ has won the Favourite Feature Narrative Audience Award at the 2026 BlackStar Film Festival in Philadelphia, United States.

The award was announced by Party Jollof TV, marking another international milestone for the Nigerian production and its creative team. The film was screened on August 7 as part of the festival’s official programme celebrating works by Black and Indigenous filmmakers.

Directed by Dammy Twitch, Call of My Life follows Soluchi, a call-centre agent dealing with heartbreak whose life takes an unexpected turn after a work-related phone call connects her with Eli.

The film features Uzoamaka Power, Andrew Yaw Bunting, Beverly Osu, Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwor, Zubby Michael, Broda Shaggi and Justin UG. It was produced by Blessing Uzzi under Bluhouse Studios and released in Nigerian cinemas on May 15.

The latest recognition adds to the film’s growing international profile and highlights the increasing reach of Nigerian storytelling on global festival platforms.

The 15th BlackStar Film Festival, which celebrates films and stories by Black, Brown and Indigenous creators from around the world, was held in Philadelphia from August 6 to 9.
