The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly linked to recent killings, armed robbery and cult-related activities in the Ajah axis.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the suspects, aged between 26 and 32, were arrested during follow-up operations connected to a robbery investigation. Preliminary findings, she said, linked them to alleged robbery activities around Ajah, Sangotedo and Ibeju-Lekki.
Police recovered three locally made pistols, one live ammunition, two battle axes and a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine from the suspects. Adebisi added that the suspects allegedly made statements concerning their involvement in armed robbery, murder and cultism.
The suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with investigations, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other alleged members of the gang and recover additional exhibits. They are expected to be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, commended the operatives and directed them to intensify efforts to dismantle the criminal network. He warned cultists and other violent criminals that the command would continue to use intelligence-led operations to bring alleged offenders to justice.
The police also urged residents to report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines to support prompt security response.
