The Federal Government says 147 structures in Lagos will be affected by the construction of the service lane of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
President Bola Tinubu disclosed this on Sunday during a stakeholder engagement and the flag-off of repair works on Eko Bridge, Marine Bridge and a flooded section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. He was represented by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Tinubu said five of the affected structures would be fully impacted, while the remaining 142 would experience minimal impact. He assured affected property owners that compensation would be provided where necessary and at the appropriate time.
The President said the stakeholder engagement was aimed at securing public support and cooperation for the infrastructure projects. He noted that Eko Bridge and Marine Bridge remained important parts of Lagos’ transport infrastructure, particularly Marine Bridge’s role in providing access to the state’s seaports.
Tinubu commended Works Minister Dave Umahi for his efforts in improving road infrastructure and urged Lagos residents to support projects designed to deliver long-term benefits.
He said the Federal Government remained committed to infrastructure development in Lagos and across the country, stressing that some temporary adjustments would be necessary to deliver projects capable of benefiting future generations.
