Lions Clubs International District 404B4 has earmarked 100 million naira for a diabetes intervention programme targeting 10,000 beneficiaries during the 2026/2027 service year.
The District Governor, Mrs Patience Ngene, announced the initiative on Saturday in Lagos while unveiling her leadership team and agenda. She said the programme would give priority to children living with diabetes, with health centres in communities to be supported with screening, treatment and sponsorship where necessary.
Ngene said diabetes screening would remain a major focus of her administration, alongside vision care, youth and women empowerment and other community-development projects. She also announced plans to empower 50 widows with sewing and branding machines to help them establish sustainable sources of income.
She said the administration would measure its success by the tangible impact of its projects on beneficiaries and would operate under the theme, “Passion for Service, Service Without Limits.”
The event featured the formal transfer of leadership from Mr Adebowale Afolayan, the immediate past District Governor, to Ngene, cabinet presentations, fundraising appeals and awards for distinguished service.
