FCTA DISTRIBUTES 6,800 BAGS OF FERTILISER TO BOOST FARMING ACROSS AREA COUNCILS

Listen

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has handed over 6,800 bags of fertiliser to the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), FCT Chapter, for distribution to verified farmers across the six area councils. The fertiliser, supplied by the Federal Government through the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), is aimed at supporting farmers and strengthening food security.

Speaking during the handover in Tungan Maje, Abuja, the FCTA said the intervention reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to easing the rising cost of farm inputs under the Renewed Hope Agenda. The administration also noted that ongoing rural road projects in the FCT are helping farmers reduce post-harvest losses by improving access to markets.

The FCTA warned AFAN against favouritism, diversion or any form of malpractice in the distribution process, insisting that the fertiliser must reach only verified beneficiaries. It stressed that the exercise would be closely monitored and promised sanctions against anyone found undermining the process.

AFAN welcomed the intervention and assured farmers of a transparent distribution exercise. The association pledged to work with relevant authorities to ensure the fertiliser gets to genuine farmers, while the FCTA reaffirmed its commitment to providing additional support, quality extension services and improved agricultural productivity across the territory.
