Mr Abdulfatah Aliyu, Vice Chairman, Abuja GSM Village, says that the rising cost of living and inflation had significantly altered consumer behaviour towards technology and mobile communications gadgets.
According to him, previously many Nigerians preferred to replace their handsets if they felt they were giving them lots of problem, but now people prioritise gadget repairs over purchasing new devices. He explained that the most frequent repairs handled by technicians at the hub involved damaged screens and charging ports.
Aliyu stated that the high cost of brand-new replacement parts had popularised the use of genuine used components among repairers. He advised professional engineers to always maintain transparency by informing clients when alternative parts are being installed.
The Abuja GSM Village is a major technology hub in Abuja dedicated to the sale and maintenance of digital gadgets.
