The Nigerian Army has graduated 192 beneficiaries of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) Youth Empowerment Project, reinforcing its commitment to skills development and entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the ceremony in Abuja, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, said practical skills and continuous learning remain essential for self-reliance, job creation and national development. The graduates completed vocational training in ICT and Fashion Design under the programme.
The event also witnessed the inauguration of the NAOWA Delight Bakery and NAOWA Stitches and Designs Centre, initiatives aimed at providing sustainable livelihood opportunities for military families and surrounding communities. NAOWA leaders said the facilities would serve as hubs for training, employment and entrepreneurship.
Of the 192 graduates, 160 were trained in ICT while 32 completed Fashion Design training. Organisers say plans are also underway to establish a garment production factory that will create additional jobs and support local production.
The programme reflects ongoing efforts to empower young people with practical skills that can drive economic growth and improve livelihoods across communities.
