Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, supported by personnel of the Nigeria Police Mobile Force (MOPOL), have foiled an attempted attack by suspected ISWAP terrorists on Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Monguno, Borno State, rescuing all 46 students targeted during the operation.

According to the military, the attackers stormed the facility in the early hours of Saturday while it was serving as temporary hostel accommodation for students of the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno. Security personnel responded swiftly, with a Quick Reaction Force reinforcing the operation and forcing the assailants to flee.

The rescued students were evacuated to Kinnasara Barracks in Monguno, where they received medical attention and care. The military, however, confirmed that some students lost their lives after being hit by gunfire during the attack, while parts of the school infrastructure were also damaged.

Operation HADIN KAI expressed condolences to the affected families and said efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing terrorists and identify suspected collaborators. The military also assured residents of strengthened security measures to protect schools and other critical public facilities across the North-East.
