Residents of Lata Nna Community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene in what they described as worsening insecurity caused by persistent bandit attacks.
In a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter signed by the Secretary of the Lata-Nna Youth Association, Tauheed Ahmed Desco, the community said repeated incidents of banditry, kidnappings, armed robbery and attacks on farmlands over the past two years had disrupted farming, trading and other economic activities.
The residents urged the Federal Government to deploy more security personnel to the area, secure the community’s only access road and intensify operations to flush out armed groups from nearby forests. They also called for support for families affected by the attacks, including relatives of residents reportedly killed during recent incidents.
According to the community, several attacks have been recorded since 2025, including killings, robberies, road blockades and raids on homes and businesses. They alleged that the insecurity has made it difficult for residents to access farms, markets and essential services, while leaving many living in fear.
The community warned that the continued attacks threaten livelihoods and public safety, stressing that urgent intervention is needed to restore peace and enable residents to resume normal life.
