Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire are seeking closer cooperation as both countries move to strengthen their diplomatic and economic ties.
At a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the ECOWAS Mid-Year Summit in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Sola Enikanolaiye, and Côte d’Ivoire’s Foreign Minister, Nialé Kaba, agreed to review existing agreements and identify new opportunities for collaboration.
The discussions focused on promoting regional stability, prosperity and integration across West Africa. Both leaders emphasized the importance of stronger consultation and partnership between Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire, two of the region’s key players.
The meeting also highlighted plans to reactivate the Nigeria–Côte d’Ivoire Bi-National Commission, which has not convened since 2021. Officials believe deeper cooperation between the two countries will contribute significantly to peace, development and regional progress.
As West Africa continues to navigate economic and security challenges, stronger partnerships among member states remain critical to achieving sustainable growth and regional unity.
