The Nigerian Navy has disrupted a suspected pipeline vandalism network in Imo State, arresting two suspects and intercepting allegedly vandalised crude oil pipeline materials.
According to the Navy, personnel of Naval Base Oguta intercepted a truck carrying 10 sections of crude oil pipeline believed to have been illegally removed from the Addax Petroleum pipeline network along the Osu–Obodo road corridor. One suspect was arrested while escorting the shipment, while another was apprehended during follow-up operations.
The Navy said the timely operation prevented further damage to critical national infrastructure and preserved important evidence for ongoing investigations. Authorities are continuing efforts to arrest other members of the suspected syndicate.
Security agencies say the operation is part of broader efforts to tackle pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft and economic sabotage while protecting Nigeria’s strategic oil and gas assets.
