BON URGES FG TO SET UP COMMITTEE FOR 2026 WORLD PUBLIC RELATIONS FORUM

Listen

The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) has called on the Federal Government to establish an inter-ministerial committee to support preparations for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF).

BON Chairman, Senior High Chief Tony Akiotu, made the call while receiving the leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Abuja.

Akiotu said hosting the global forum presents Nigeria with a valuable opportunity to take control of its story, challenge misleading perceptions and project a more accurate image of the country to the international community.

He commended the NIPR for securing the hosting rights for Nigeria, describing the forum as a national project that should receive the full support of relevant government ministries and agencies.

According to him, an inter-ministerial committee would help coordinate the planning and delivery of the event while showcasing Nigeria as a safe and attractive destination for investment, business and residence.

Akiotu also assured the NIPR of the support of BON and its member broadcast organisations in providing publicity and visibility for the forum. He confirmed that BON members would participate in the week-long event scheduled for November 15 to 21, 2026.

Earlier, the President and Chairman of the NIPR Governing Council, Dr Ike Neliaku, said the visit was intended to strengthen the relationship between the two organisations and explore opportunities for collaboration in nation-building.

Neliaku said a partnership with BON would help Nigeria present its story more effectively and strengthen the country’s reputation among local and international stakeholders.
