The Police Command in Nasarawa State has confirmed the abduction of three students of the Federal University of Lafia (Fulafia). The command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday July 8 in Lafia.

Nansel said that the command received a distress report from the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the institution on Tuesday July 7, at about 9:20 p.m., stating that three students residing at Living Seed Lodge, located in a bushy area on the outskirts of the students’ residential community, were abducted by suspected armed men.

According to Nansel, upon receipt of the report, the police command immediately mobilized and launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation within the surrounding forest, which led to the rescue of one of the abducted students. He said efforts have been intensified to ensure the safe rescue of the other two students, and the capture and prosecution of the perpetrators.

The PPRO urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and continue to support the police by providing timely and credible information that could assist ongoing operations. He further advised members of the public to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station for prompt response.
