The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested two suspected members of a burglary syndicate. The suspects, identified as Ajiboye Adedamola Oluwatobi, and Dayo Sesan, were apprehended in separate intelligence-led operations carried out by operatives of the Command’s Tracking Unit.
According to a statement issued on Thursday July 2 by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC I Ayoola Michael Shola, the arrests followed investigations into reported cases of burglary in different parts of the Ilorin metropolis where residents lost mobile phones, laptops, electronic gadgets and other valuables.
Preliminary investigations, according to the NSCDC, indicate that the suspects, who self-identify as members of the Aiye Confraternity, are also members of a criminal syndicate responsible for burglary and related offences in the Tanke, Pipeline and Gaa-Akanbi areas of Ilorin. The Command said the recovered exhibits include two locally fabricated firearms and one live cartridge, adding that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, the NSCDC said it would continue to deploy intelligence-driven operations and strengthen collaboration with other security agencies to tackle criminal activities. It also appealed to members of the public to support ongoing security efforts by providing timely and credible information capable of aiding law enforcement agencies in combating crime.
