ALIMOSHO LG CHAIRMAN REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR FARMERS, ANNOUNCES AUGUST FOOD INITIATIVE

The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Akinpelu Johnson, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting farmers, describing agriculture as a key driver of food security, economic growth, and community development.

Speaking during a meeting with members of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and other agricultural stakeholders, Johnson said farmers remain central to the wellbeing of communities and pledged continued policies aimed at improving productivity and farmers’ welfare.

The chairman highlighted the success of the Ounje Alásàpẹ̀ Initiative, which enabled farmers to sell produce at subsidised rates to residents. He announced that the next edition of the programme will take place in August and encouraged farmers, traders, and residents to participate.

Agricultural stakeholders at the event commended the local government’s support for farmers, describing collaboration between government and farming communities as important for food security and economic development.
