8 SUSPECTED CULTISTS NABBED IN ILORIN, FIREARMS RECOVERED

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested eight suspected cultists and recovered firearms and other dangerous weapons. This was revealed on Friday June 19 in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.

The suspects were apprehended during a targeted raid carried out by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cultism Unit in collaboration with other tactical teams, following credible intelligence reports on the activities of suspected cult members in the Akuo and Fagba areas of Ilorin.

Items recovered from the suspects include two locally made pistols, one pump-action shotgun, two cut-to-size shotguns, and 25 expended cartridges. The police assured that investigations are ongoing, and that any suspect found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Commenting on the operation, the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Adekimi Ojo, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to sustain the fight against cultism and other violent crimes through proactive policing and community collaboration.
