More young entrepreneurs are set to benefit from the Youth Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Programme (YEEP) after Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, announced an increase in grants for the 2026 edition of the initiative.

Speaking at the YEEP Summit in Abuja, Kalu said the number of beneficiaries has doubled from 37 last year to 74 this year. He also directed an equal distribution of grants, with 37 women and 37 men selected to ensure gender balance.

The summit also featured discussions on youth entrepreneurship, access to finance, skills development and business growth. Representatives from government, the European Union, NYSC, private sector organisations and development partners highlighted ongoing efforts to support young Nigerians through funding, training and enterprise development.

Organisers said the programme is focused on helping young people build sustainable businesses, create jobs and contribute to economic growth. Participants were encouraged to maximise available opportunities and remain committed to innovation and accountability.
