The United States and Iran have signed an interim ceasefire agreement aimed at ending months of conflict and creating a pathway toward a permanent peace deal.
According to the agreement released on Wednesday, both sides have committed to extending an existing ceasefire for 60 days while negotiations continue. The deal includes measures such as the resumption of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, the easing of some restrictions on Iran, and provisions related to Iran’s nuclear programme under international supervision.
U.S. President Donald Trump said the agreement would be closely monitored and warned of consequences if its terms were violated. Iranian officials, meanwhile, welcomed the deal and described it as a diplomatic achievement.
