Iran has strongly condemned recent U.S. military strikes, describing them as a violation of its sovereignty and the United Nations Charter.
In a statement on Wednesday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the attacks targeted areas in southern Iran and followed the reported crash of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz earlier this week. The ministry stated that Iran’s armed forces responded under what it described as its right to self-defence.
Iran also called on countries in the region not to allow their territories or facilities to be used for actions against Iran and warned of possible retaliatory measures. The country’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, reportedly held discussions with his counterparts in Turkey and Saudi Arabia following the developments.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command said its forces carried out what it described as “self-defense” strikes against Iranian targets, calling the operation a proportional response to recent incidents involving U.S. forces and commercial shipping. The situation adds to growing tensions in the region, with international attention focused on efforts to prevent further escalation.
