The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has cautioned district heads and community leaders in Bida Emirate against harbouring criminals.
Speaking at a meeting with district and community heads on Thursday June 11 in Bida, Etsu Nupe, who is also the Chairman, Niger Council of Traditional Rulers, expressed concern over the surge in criminal activities.
The traditional ruler charged the traditional leaders to live up to their responsibilities as custodians of their communities, urging them to take proactive measures to protect lives and property.
He directed all district and village heads to improve surveillance within their domains and be vigilant enough to identify criminals.
He further charged them not to hesitate to bring identified suspected criminals forward for investigation and possible prosecution, regardless of the influence or status of their parents.
