The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State has arrested a 34-year-old man, Akinola Tosin, over allegations of fraud and impersonation, including posing as a member of the Nigerian Army to facilitate criminal activities.
The suspect was arrested following a complaint by a Point-of-Sale (POS) operator who alleged that he was defrauded through a fake bank transfer alert. Investigations further revealed that the suspect had allegedly been impersonating a soldier by carrying a fake military identity card and using military-related items.
The Corps disclosed that the suspect confessed to involvement in other similar crimes, and to the existence of an accomplice identified as Feranmi Idoko Godwin, who is currently on the run.
The NSCDC said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect, and that Akinola Tosin would be prosecuted in accordance with the law upon the conclusion of investigations.
