The Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has dismissed reports claiming that two pupils were kidnapped and one child was killed in a school within the community.
The Vice Chairman of the council, Mrs Abimbola Jimoh, described the report as false and misleading, stating that no such incident was recorded in any school in Imota. She said security agencies remain vigilant and that schools in the area are safe for teaching and learning.
According to the council, the rumour caused unnecessary panic among parents and residents. The vice chairman urged members of the public to verify information before sharing it, noting that false reports can create fear and disrupt public peace.
She also said the police had debunked the claim and encouraged residents to continue their normal activities while remaining security conscious and reporting suspicious movements to the appropriate authorities.
